We like orchids but we can't seem to stop them pushing themselves out of the compost never mind not growing upright .
They seem quite healthy as new air roots and they have just flowered .

We've got several, and they all do that.
 
They have to do that, because they don't really want to be in a pot at all - you can put the pot in a deeper 'cache-pot' to hide them and support them, if you don't like the look of the air roots. That'll help keep the air roots a little bit more humid too, which the orchid will enjoy.

Yep the 'roots' need light on em hence Orchid pots are clear to allow this.
