My boiler seems to have packed up over night . No heating or hot water .
I called British gas as I have boiler care but as I am a single fella in his 40's I have to wait until tomorrow for someone to come and take a look . Fair enough given there will be others that are more urgent .
Doesn't mean I cant take a look my self though does it ^_^

What boiler is it? Is it a combi? If so is there a pressure bar? May need topping up.

Combi potterton performa 28 The pressure is fine . Ive just looked at the manual and the flashy light is saying a fault on the temperature sensor .
Shouting at it and trying to trick it into giving me hot water is not working
Now have pans heating on the stove so I can have a wash . Reminds me of the old days with mum when we ran out of hot water and where waiting for it to heat up again

I know it's daft, but have you tried switching it off and back on again, just in case the control circuit as glitched. If it is the sensor that's gone then it will be a quick job to fix

a temp sensor should be cheap and easy to replace, if it is that that has gone of course

you haven't got a leak anywhere?

Sadly Rocky, combi-boilers were invented to provide instantaneous hot water [ha!] which everyone at the time thought was a brilliant invention, so there was no need to install a hot water tank... so no back up at all. Good old pans and kettles, and [hopefully] an open fire for heat... but most new houses are built without chimneys so even that option is out.... all cost driven as usual.

If its a thermister its water side so pop down to screwfix and see if they have one. But as its a weekend the heating supply places will be shut...
cheap part and a common fail. Easy to change but you will need to release pressure first.

im not a plumber ,but have done all the plumbing in my own house and have a halstead boiler!! So being able to fix this is a must have skill..its shockingly cheap and cheerfull. Worcester next time..

as said try reset

The turning it off thing didn't work .
I do have a spray booth full of oil filled and electric heaters plus an open fire for tonight so its not that bad .
I guess I should have given the heaters a quick blast before I brought them into the house . The fine paint that has settled on them is kicking off a bit woooooohoooooooooo

when i move away from home there will be one big investment i will be making.....a rayburn

only a small one as i will be living by my self but one that can cook, provide hot water and supply 2 or 3 radiators (i don't want a big house!) and it 3 will all be fired by wood

oh look! they made one just for me

Someone ripped out the chimney with the backboiler in it here , before I moved in . I would have loved that given that im a carpenter so free fuel and hot water ! I wonder what the costs are to replace ? The chimney is there , just the fireplace and boiler are gone .
