Just call me Chris...
I'm only just starting out on the sps adventure, and realising how crap I've been with my water until now lol...

SPS are absolute hearbreakers. 6 Months worth of vibrant growth can be wiped out in a second by a careless Tang!
Stunningly beautiful though, when it's going well

Sadly I've been plagued with problems over the last couple of Years and lost most of the SPS.
I'm just in the process of a major revamp at the moment, it's either that or get rid of it and I'm not ready for that quite yet.

@Gromit, yup, it does turn into an obsession, be warned!
No, coloured gravel will not negatively affect your fish in any way. I personally far prefer the natural coloured stuff in a finer grain size, but that's just me.
Freshwater tropical are straightforward and inexpensive, just dump in your tapwater, add some dechlorinating agent, wait for your temperatures to stabilize and off you go.
You have to add fish slowly to let your filter mature, but your LFS will give you all the advice you need

Any problems/questions please feel free to pm me if you wish. I kept various freshwater setups for nearly 20 Years before going marine.

Cool thanks for that, it's going to be a slow process, I will be waiting at least 7 days before putting any fish in, danios will be the first to go in as a lot of sources I have read say they are the hardiest fish and help to cycle the water. Can't wait to get started, just need the fish tank lady to get in contact.
