@RedRider, you are right about the whole wages thing.
I know that most of the players @ Championship level have a full time job & play on part time contracts with a small per match fee & better bonus money. Usually, in the case of Leigh anyway, the club help find a job locally for players, especially those who are not from a reasonably close area. Only in the last few weeks, with the recent success of the club have the majority of players moved onto full time contracts.

You can share a pint & a laugh with many of the players in a regular pub.

I remember being able to do this with Man Utd players up to the early, mid 80's, before they all move up sticks to the leafy 'burbs of Hale Barns & into Cheshire.

I thought Wigan/Warrington games sometimes got a little lively on the terraces as well?

Hi @davdandy.

I know the Poplars a little, having been round a few times reviewing the bus service. My Mam lives just down the road in Pennington.

You should take a trip to the new stadium when you are at a loose end, the team & club is far better than of recent past.

The coach Paul Rowley is a Leigh lad born & bred & played for the club & he has gone down the route of having a lot of Leigh lads on the squad which is working well.

There is now a good youth system at the club & increasingly big Super League clubs are coming after our best players.

If you do venture down to a match I suggest when we play a big Championship club like Halifax or Featherstone maybe.

The Challenge Cup QF is on Sky Sports tonight at 8 p.m, go on, cheer 'em on.

Castleford Tigers fan here. Hope we meet you in the final, but need to sort Wigan out tomorrow. Be nice if you can beat Leeds tonight,Featherstone knocked us out a couple of years ago, so it can be done.

St Helens fan here. My aunt lives next door but one to what used to be the entrance to the clubhouse at Knowsley Road (before they moved out to Langtree). Back when I was a kid, the team used to train on a large patch of grass in front of the clubhouse and I have very happy memories of throwing the ball around with them.

I've also met Steve Ganson (former RL ref) quite a few times as my cousin was married to someone who wanted to be a ref. I remember travelling up to Barrow to watch him (cousin's husband) be touch judge (as it was then) when I could have been at Knowsley Road watching the Saints play. Several hours of my life I won't get back

I keep an eye on Hunslet. My Grandmother came from there and her family were mad keen rugby players.

What a game. Thought you were gonna do it, played like Trojans.I enjoyed being a Leigh fan for 80 minutes. It would have been good if you'd beat em,if only to shut the drummer and trumpet players up in the south stand.Good luck for the rest of the season.

Another Tigers fan here, I don't go to matches but like to see them win, I played league as a youngster at school no Union at our school, I do like to watch a good game of Union though, unlike the son in law who has played league all his life and won't watch union, he still turns out now and again at 36, I have 2 grandsons who play league and 1 who plays union.

What's all this with made up names like Leeds Rhinos or Castleford Tigers? If you are going to make up a name, make it half-way relevant. Something like the Loiners or the Castleford spice boys.

Aye, I'd proper sh!te it if a thought some herbs were coming for a bit of a scrap.

Do the fans of Leeds not get called Loiners already?
