Wow, that's some great progress.

Since coming back from holiday and getting over a little illness I had at the end of it, I've been concentrating more on cycling to rebuild my fitness for the coming hillclimb racing season than running. I've been out running 3 times since.

So I can't see myself getting into the 16s this year - my fallback running goal is a >80% WAVA parkrun, which for me would be 17:25, and would be a smidge faster at 44 than my PB when I was 33. I'd need to find a fast course to do it. It's complicated by having to take my son to lifesaving classes at 10am on Saturdays - I could just about get to Stafford for Isabel Trail and be back to Uttoxeter in time.

How do you find you 80 wava?

I've signed up for tour of pendle a hilly 16mile fell race .

Steady away this morning in 22 starting at the back!

Then haworth hobble

and finally Milton Keynes marathon

That's the winter plan!

Perhaps I should join a running forum for more support.
Here's the situation, I was knocked off the bike last Wednesday, resulting in lots of cuts and bruises, a broken nose, skull fractures, three days in hospital, the wife wants me to stop cycling, which is probably the right call, my last serious off was ten years ago, I don't want another.
I will get rid of all the bikes so I am not tempted, but I will have to replace it with something, running came to mind, I have done lots in the past but not much since my off ten years ago, as I damaged my knee, I am old now 73, is it too late to revive my running career? I was an Orienteer for most of my life, that might be a way back in, also my son does park runs and suggested I try them, it all depends on the knees, there is nothing as exhilarating as running in the country side away from the roads, you never know I may venture back onto the fells, I did several fell races when younger always good fun, but maybe a step too far nowadays.

I'm fairly close to most of the ground "Craggrunner" events are held. My partner ran the Piethorne 10K not too long ago, age was defiantly not a barrier to a large number of runners. If you've decided riding may not be for you then you wouldn't look out of place at one of the events.

My Son is now 1 year into ‘running’ and is living and loving the life. He’s signed up for Manchester Marathon and Amsterdam Marathon this year (Dragging Dad here along for both 😁) - and I’m still not sure he knows what his distance really is !

I think he’s now at mid 16’s for 5k, 1h 18 for half marathon and infact ran today in a road 10mile and set his new PB of 56.33…..taking 5th overall / 1st Senior - in the first of a series of 6 races and a decent quality field. It will be interesting to see how far he can go…..

What's his future looking like?
Has he joined a running club? Got a coach?
Looking at a training centre?

My 8yo did his first 5k parkrun today in the mudbath that was Bramshall Road Park. Didn’t start very auspiciously when he complained of a stitch within the first 400 yards, but he paced it really nicely, did some great negative splits, and we finished in 31:46. Very proud!

Oh no, I’ve joined @Jameshow with a borked calf muscle! It was about 500m from the end of parkrun yesterday morning - I managed to hobble to the finish in 19:33, but have been walking like Herr Flick of the Gestapo since. I think plenty of rest is called for… 😢
