Provided the weather isn’t too bad tomorrow morning, I’m going to bring out the big guns for their first outing, at Isabel Trail parkrun. B-goal is sub-18, which I managed the only other time I’ve run this flat, fast course. A-goal is to get under my 12-year-old PB, which would also score me a WAVA rating of more than 80%. 🤞

A touch breezy this morning, managed 17:55 for an age-grading of 79.16%, my third-fastest parkrun. Felt like I died a bit around 2 miles in!

I saw my first wheelchair in a parkrun this morning.
I’ve done over 275 runs and never seen one. It looked like a lot of hard work. Very impressive given the nature of parkrun.

I saw someone actually taken out by a buggy at ParkRun today. The buggy nearly tipped over but fortunately neither the occupant nor the runner they collided with were injured.
I'm all for the buggies and the dogs being able to participate but I'm wondering if there needs to be separate starting arrangements for them; not sure how.

I'm all for the buggies and the dogs being able to participate but I'm wondering if there needs to be separate starting arrangements for them; not sure how.

There was a video a few years ago where a guy had a baby sized Spongebob strapped into a buggy that he was pushing while clocking a sub four minute mile 😳

It really tricky because some buggy and dog runners are really fast, so putting them at the back wouldn’t solve the problem as they would have to cut through back markers.

I do think it’s imperative that anyone with a buggy or dog realises that they are a moving road block so needs to start at an appropriate place. And runners need to be a bit more aware when running around them.

I’ve seen plenty of runner on runner falls, so it’s impossible to stop collisions completely.

Agree, today's buggy pusher finished in the top 10% so there'd likely be problems of a different kind if they'd been made to start at the back. Maybe they need to be encouraged to stick to the hard left of the course.

I've only done 25 ParkRuns and I've not seen a collision yet that didn't involve a buggy or a dog. One guy was so close to me a while back that he managed to change the volume on my phone with his elbow as he came past me.
