All very well, but what the feck are those ugly coiled metal things they have at the front which are seemingly attached to two sets of front forks?? Suspension??


I don't own a Schwinn, but I have seen one or two in Glasgow before.

That there fork is a springer fork, rudimentary (undamped) suspension from off of the 1940s.

It's labelled Cro-Mo Double Butted, True Temper.

They didn't make those for many years. The big tip-off is the braze-on downtube shifters. You have a very fine bicycle there, in my opinion the best Traveler ever made. I have a 1981 Voyageur in 4130 that I am working on, in the same size.
