you must not use 2 core to feed the lights. your lights need the earth as it will have exposed conductive parts ( the casing is an exposed conductive part as it is part of the installation which is not normally live but can become live under fault conditions)

A breaker (MCB )board won't give any further protection than a Board fitted with a fuse for fault protection. (indirect contact as was).
an RCD protected circuit "might" operate under fault conditions but i wouldn't want to chance it . wise decision in getting 3core cable .

thats what being a spark for 24 nearly 25 Yrs does for you I suppose ;) . I loved the sunday afternoons on call out roster Guaranteed money in the winter at about 15.00 when it starts getting dark and DIY man has put all the reds together and all the blacks together on a 3 plate rose :smile:

Had one of these just the other day! Usual phone call, I was trying to fit this new light fitting from b&q/ikea and the old one has 3 reds and 3 blacks! Help! Lol
