Anybody else get a tiny bit disappointed when there are no "alerts" for them when they log on?

You should subscribe to P&L sorry current affairs and debacle, then you would get alerts and a lot more .........

A "tiny bit disappointed"? No, that's not quite it. Massively disappointed, hurt and ignored that's probably nearer the mark. Actually I'm thinking of emailing Shaun I think my alert function may be playing up as I should definitely be getting more than I am currently.

If you want to get a few more alerts just pop over to one of the Lance Armstrong threads in Pro Cycling and Racing and say "but he never tested positive". Then just sit back and wait

Nah, switched off alerts when we moved to this SW and also don't accept PMs etc from people on my ignore list. To keep track of what I want to see I just use Watched Threads and What's New...if I get bored of any of my watched threads then I just stop watching them, they'll still appear on what's new.

I suppose alerts are better than thread e-mail notifications, which I always disabled as well.

For some odd reason in all the time I've been using cyclechat I haven't been able to bring myself to look on the "post a lie" page. I think perhaps I fear getting drawn in never to return but then again it can't be any worse than a certain thread (no names) that is raging on the general bicycle page at the moment. In fact it probably makes more sense.

Have you by any chance read The End Of Mr Y by Scarlet Thomas?

Indeed not. I just went and had a look. It's ok. Perhaps not my cup o' tea. Certainly not as crazy as some other threads I could mention but won't. Just not really my bag man.

The 'Insult Round Robin'* that is the 'Post A Lie' thread has been going for such a long time that it doesn't really need to be Crazy any more, it is has just evolved and mellowed with age but it is still looked after and cared for by a small, close knit band of highly intelligent, astute and witty followers!

I feel compelled to say a big old thank you to everybody who has "liked" a comment of mine on this thread. I just turned on to find 19...that's right, count 'em, 19 new alerts. This is a complete record for me by a long way and has rubbed my ego up to a point where it shines with an inner glow all of its own.

These days I mostly read the forum on my phone, and you don't get alerts (apart from optional email ones) on Tapatalk, unless I'm missing a trick. So there's a backlog of them when I check on the PC.

But I've had the benefit of it already. I'm not so bothered about the total count of likes in my profile. What I like is tuning in to cyclechat and finding a healthy amount of "New Alerts" which are either "likes" or people quoting and answering a point.
