Anybody here shave their head?

I've got the second one of those, the Phillips thing. Used it a few times and it was ok but ended up using razors or shavers. I've got a Phillips wet n dry shaver thing which is ok but it doesn't do the neck well or around the ears. Wet razor gives the best result but you have to use a brillo pad type thing afterwards to avoid ingrown hairs.

I tried the 1st one when they came out . it was awful and left me looking like i had been attacked by a nutter with a hedge strimmer, very uneven and patchy .

I have a basic mains head shaver that has worked for years , mrs ck gives me a number 1 ? 3 mm cut every so often, given up on a hairstyle as i wear a hard hat at work all day so i used to come with a big x of flat hair .

I've used the Wahl clip and rinse rechargeable clippers set for years now and find them very reliable and efficient. I've not found better performance or value for money, they're only £22 (occasionally £20) and come with a full range of gauges, scissors, comb, oil, and cleaning brush. You can simply rinse it under the tap or shower to clean it when you're done.

Winter haircut is a gauge 1 and summer is zero.

I have a no. 0 every 3-4 weeks, and shave my head once a year (admittedly at a barber's) but it's easy with a Bic razor with two blades (as I used to do it myself).

Just cut your hair short first, otherwise it's a tedious process of trying to remove the cut hair from the razor.

I too have the Wahl clipper set.It's on number one always.It was bought at Sainsbugs during a sale plus staff discount Mrs Postman works part time.Just over £20 paid for itself after four cuts.It's a great piece of kit,loads of gauges comb scissors and like GC nose hair clipper.

I used to use the Phillips thing and still do if it's called for. I prefer having a barber do it nowadays. Less faff round the ears and trying to see the back of my head.

I've been clippering my hair since my mid 30s, and also wear a beard. I heartily recommend a decent beard trimmer. The various attachments can deal with things like a stubble to mid length beard, it has a detail trimmer for awkward areas, and take all the attachments off for a weekly "down to the wood" clearance. It cuts closer than salon trimmers, such as Wahl, and the detail trimmer can seek and destroy the old ear hairs as well. Mine is a Remington, rechargeable. Cost about forty quid from Argos. I've tried many, but they all have their shortcomings. This one does it all. Until the dog ate the beard comb.

I do my head with a mains Wahl and beard with a smaller battery Wahl. Both work very well. I've never seen a barber use any other make, which to me speaks for itself.

A Bic razor does the job for me. Two quid for ten(bog off the last time i bought some)will last for ages. My bonce is smooth and shines in the sunshine.

Whal are a decent clipper and most pro's tend to use them.

I used to use a Whal. Mine was mains powered, is that still the case? That is one of the reasons I prefer the circular Babyliss thing. Mains meant that it wasn't very convenient to do the clipping in the bathroom which was, and is, the best place. Or did it have one of those two pronged shaver plug things? I can't remember

Remington Cerramic rechargeable clippers for me, first set lasted over 10 years (to be fair they just need a new battery!).

No oil or messing about and never go blunt..

Yes that's the kind of thing I've got now, although not a Wahl, it's the potential of missed bits I'm not so keen and thought the Babyliss palm sander jobby or the Philips angled head contraption might help a bit with that. Although I could do as @KnackeredBike suggests and call the mistakes a feature.
