A friend of mine is looking to buy a bike purely for fitness / leisure.

Speed is not of much importance, looks however - yes !

I told him it seems pretty good value for the money but thought I'd come here to ask for a much better opinion !

Large at 22" did confuse me a bit, personally I thought this would be in the XL category. (my mate is approx 6ft tall).

Many thanks in advance.

Looks good. Schwann is a leading US brand that is becoming more popular in the UK and elsewhere. Almost like Raleigh is to us in the UK. I have one but it's a sports model and 25 years old. A bit of a bargain, you get a carbon fork which is quite rare at this price, rest of the spec is fairly solid. Would suit you friend very well for his intended purpose, would also handle a bit of off road like tracks and canal paths. The large would probably be the best for him at six foot. Go for it!

Hadn't noticed the spoke count and wasn't aware of the a Btwin. I would agree with PpPete it would seem a better buy. Would also feel a bit quicker due to narrower faster tyres.

Many thanks for all the replies guys, very much appreciated.

However my mate has just emailed this one (I personally think he's been up all night scouring every conceivable cycle store website known to man) !!

Never heard of the company myself but boy the spec looks unbelievable for the price.

However I've noticed that it says 21" frame as a 53cm !

I thought that 21" was in the large category and 53cm was in the medium category.

Pity we didn't live close by we could sit on one to determine best fit etc

Any ideas ?

Still think the Btwin is the best bet, better spec than the CB. Plus Decthlon who sell them are bound to have a store nearby, so you can see it in the metal as it were and at least sit on it. It's important to get the correct size.

Unfortunately I live in Wales and there are no Decathlon stores here but many thanks for the reply.

Cheers.

You can buy online from them, I also see it has been reduced by fifty quid! Here's the link: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/triban-3-red-road-bike-id_8274036.html
The available sizes of 45 and 48cm aren't going to work for a 6ft tall rider

Also, the OP is linking flat bar bikes

So something like this from Decathlon http://www.decathlon.co.uk/fit-3-road-bike-grey-id_8239797.html
