My FIL has the T-Mobile thingy deal - £20 per month - but he uses the PCMCIA socket for his - i.e. the big rectangle hole in the side of the lappy.....

Yep, I use 3g mobile broadband with a USB modem. What do you want to know?

Yup, I have a USB modem which I use to connect via 3. Works well, cost is reasonable, but I'm in an area that has very good coverage.

I have been using 3 too - at work.
Simple to install, a doddle to connect (well, not sometimes but eventually it gets there) and seems a very convenient way to www.

I've been using a 3G USB Vodafone card for quite a while now. Only use it outside of the office. Reasonable speed and very reliable - even abroad. Obviously, the "high-speed" is only available within certain areas of coverage.
Used to have the old PCMCIA card - what a nightmare that was.
