Recently I've been approaching more and more drivers who stop in the ASL, using mobiles and passing to close etc... I was thinking about making some leaflets and handing them out to drivers whom I approach.

Planning to have like main points such as why drivers shouldn't use mobiles driving due to reaction times. Passing to close could be dangerous and what not.

Then maybe having a few links to websites about cycle awareness. Has anyone done such a thing?

95% would get thrown in bin with nothing more then maybe a quick flick through, but just handing them out could be enough to make drivers think a bit more? really upto if you think it is worth it or not?
Cheers Ed

Just thought I could raise awareness so drivers and cyclists could use the road safely. Also try prevent deaths with drivers using phones, knocking cyclists off due to passing to close and so on.

Very laudable idea but I'm afraid @young Ed is right, they will just go in the bin with the recipients muttering about effing cyclists. What right have they got? Etc etc. you might even come in for some physical abuse too.

As much as it it seems like a good idea in reality it won't make any difference. The only way to stop people using mobile phones would be an instant ban.

How thick is your skin? I imagine you'll get plenty of people offering to rearrange your face. Also, if you are going to do this, you need to make sure your own behaviour is absolutely beyond reproach, both in terms of your cycling and your interactions when approaching drivers.

(FWIW I think that bit I've italicised is probably impossible)

I agree. Waste of time and money. Most incidents of bad driving tend to involve more arrogance than ignorance.

Unless they kill themselves first.

If that fails, you could get a red card and a measuring stick.
