I prefer the informality of New Year, IME Christmas celebrations tend to be geared up for a set number of invited guests whereas at New Year (most)gatecrashers with a bottle are welcomed almost anytime.

I'm enjoying the couple of days off work & was nice spending yesterday with family but yes, I am glad it's over.

For me it's an extended period of celebrating friendships and relationships.

I'll be cooking for friends and family through to the first week in January with the odd bike ride and code geeking to punctuate it. I love it. My fry up budget bust through the £100 barrier this year.

Believe it or not, I've lost weight over Christmas. I've been abstemious with cakes, chocolate and alcohol and turned down seconds. The rest of the week will wreck things though.

Ive had my Mum and Step dad down from York since the weekend and was sad to see them go early today as I don't get to see them often . There is a storm again tomorrow and I didn't want them driving back to York in it so I suggested they stay for the weekend but as my Mum is so caring she had promised to do an old ladies shopping for her on Saturday so had to be back rather than disturb the old ladies family and ask them to do it
Maybe it was her way of saying she wanted to go home Saying that , we always had an old person that no one gave a toss about around on Christmas day when I was younger . My mum used to do home care and bring them home for Christmas

Another one here that's glad its almost over, its nice to spend time with family and friends and time off work is always welcome, but all the other stuff that goes with it I could do without, just new years eve to survive and that's it.

Well, it has been wall to wall sunshine here in God's Own County and I've managed excellent rides both days on very quiet roads.
Needed full winter kit, mind you ...
