This is a reminder for me, im terrible at motivating myself to do stuff..(.yeah, I'll do that..and then I quickly forget) as a former pneumonia sufferer and with all the hype about this Australian flu, I guess this year may be a good time to get mine.
Don't normally bother....i guess I've had flu maybe 3 or 4 times I my entire life, but given it's apparent virulence....
I'm off the week after next, , must remember to get it done :okay:

Had mine last week. Get it because of all my arthritis drugs, Drs very efficient, booked in told to go to yellow room, pretty mch straight in and out. Given the lack of waiting, amazing that people didn't have their arm, bared ready, whilst waiting.

Some strains of influenza. They guess which will be dominant this year and cross their fingers.

I got the 'flu last yeah, btw, but in September. Caught it at Dubai airport, I think.
Usually the most likely strains often from Asia earlier in the year. I picked up flu when in finland visiting family a couple of years ago. Interestingly over there the test patients to see what strain they have.

The pharmacy I work in has been doing them for a few weeks. The biggest problem is with locums having the training. Some sister stores have done huge numbers of walk in jabs this year.

I don’t believe you. That’s the exact opposite of what an oncologist would say - and I know lots of them, both as a patient and as a colleague/friend. As @nickyboy says, pure trolling on your part.

You always know someone in the know don't you. Ok. I'll just tell you from my experience. The oncologist said to me that i didn't need a flu jab when i was having 27 doses of radiation and 7 of chemo'.. They didn't give me a flu jab. I've never had one or been advised to have one and guess what? I've never had flu. Infact i've only been i'll in the last ten years since my treatment once and that was last November. The doctor said it was probably due to a side effect from the strong antibiotics i was taking, after hip surgery.

Does the flu vaccine stop people getting colds as well? or is it just flu?
Lots of people seem to confuse flu with a cold.

If you have had full blown flu, you will never again confuse the two.

I've had flu twice and each time it was a deeply unpleasant exerience... sky high temp, sweats, shivers and shakes, headache, zero appetite, legs like jelly, getting out of bed to go to the loo is a major project and it begins to ease after 10 days...

I don’t believe you. I think this is another of your ‘look at me’ fantasies.

But it is a dangerous, ignorant and irresponsible fantasy. Please stop it.
Please stop doubting my words as it's quite insulting. I did not have a flu jab in 2007 and i have never been advised to have one. Next you'll be saying that i'm making it up that i had cancer. I gave my opinion on flu jabs from my own experiences and as usual i get jumped on for well just giving my opinion. Are we all supposed to sing from the same hymn sheet when a subject arises.? Am i supposed to say "oh yes i had mine last week" just to keep everybody happy? Tell you what. I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday. I'll ask him/her why i didn't need a flu jab in 2007 and why i've never been offered one. Then i'll let you know what they say.

Maybe the Doc was cautioning against live virus flu vaccines which were about 10 years ago (dropped more recently) They were not recommended for people who had chemo etc?

You do know a flu jab isn't a live virus accy.
It can make you feel a little unwell sometimes but there a good way to help stave of a nasty bout of flu.

No point arguing Fact.

Above post may apply to you from yrs ago?
