Funny you should say that. Tin hat merchants will tell you all about man made tunnel / cave systems that are being constructed by 'them', because the saucer lizards have told 'them' to get ready for what's coming, but utmost secrecy has to be maintained, lest the proles get wind of it and start revolting. It seems 'they'need to work out a way to do it more quietly.

It's true.I have seen V the tv series,it's all based on truth i tell you.You must wear a helmet while out cycling with tin foil over it.

It's that low pitch distance humming noise which science can't find an answer for, usually described as a diesel engine idling.

I tend to hear it in the evenings, autumn to winter time but only indoors, step outside, go in the shed or the garage and I can't hear it.

My better half and the neighbours can't hear it and just think I'm potty, but it is widely reported.

Some say it's distance factories, generators, waves all sorts of reasons. I live in a rural area and just can't track it down.

Somebody prove I'm sane by admitting they hear it too please !!

You are being scanned, just like everyone else.

The real question is that now you know, what're you going to do about it?

We had a power cut at work today. Power engineers said that local transformer fuse had blown, was likely to happen again as the transformer did not have the right hum noise.

I misread the thread title & thought the Germans were invading.
You've been to that other thread, "Smelling Drugs"!

It's twenty years old and on its last legs. It doesn't have a radio, make ice cubes, give you a back massage, or offer investment tips.

However, it does get yellow beer cold in short order.
Only 20yrs old, that's nearly new. Maz and I were talking about the fridge freezer here and she knows she had bought it before she moved to this house.

She has lived here for 37yrs. :okay:

Oh my goodness, me and my John thought we were just becoming doolally.

We here the hum when we are at our caravan, it's located in a rural, quiet area also. Initially we thought it was the farmers working late as it was around harvest time when we first noticed the hum. However, when we stuck our head out the door you could't here it.

Not the heating as the heating wasn't on.

Also I feel very slight vibrations/shudders also at the caravan now and again. No it's not my John pharting, the real wind, or traffic.

Maybe there is some secret tunnelling going on.

Electricity , used to hear it in my parents house coming from the meter cupboard and at night if I had my window open from the Transformers 50 yards away in the street , apparently the sound can be picked up and amplified by speakers in the house.

from wiki page .
Mains hum, electric hum, or power line hum is a sound associated with alternating current at the frequency of the mains electricity. The fundamental frequency of this sound is usually 50 Hz or 60 Hz, depending on the local power-line frequency. The sound often has heavy harmonic content above 50–60 Hz. Because of the presence of mains current in mains-powered audio equipment as well as ubiquitous AC electromagnetic fields from nearby appliances and wiring, 50/60 Hz electrical noise can get into audio systems, and is heard as mains hum from their speakers. Mains hum may also be heard coming from powerful electric power grid equipment such as utility transformers, caused by mechanical vibrations induced by the powerful AC current in them.
