I am in Phoenix, Arizona for working reasons and it is EXTREMELY unpleasant. I hired a bike but had to return it as the heat is just too unbearable to make riding feasible. It's bad enough now at 6.30am but rises all day getting more and more unpleasant. Whoever chose this as our 'classroom' wants baseball-batting. I got into a car last night and even though it was after the worst of the heat, the metal buckle on the seat belt gave me a nasty burn on my arm. The rest of the journey was spent with ears feeling they were on fire.

So that's my moan over. The ranch-style hotel is quite pleasant and I didn't have to fly here economy but other than that, it's been more like an endurance course than anything else.

Yup, been to a few of those desert towns not far from Pheonix. Tucson, Yuma etc the heat was unbearable. However the worst I have experienced is Death Valley. Boy when you opened the car door it was as if you had opened an oven door that had been cooking on max for hours on end. It's so hot there that there are signs that recommend you switch the car air conditioning off to stop the car overheating.

The last time I was here in June we drove down from a pleasant Flagstaff in an air conditioned car and got out at Phoenix airport and looked at each other (a Flandrian) as if to silently say 'why have we walked into a furnace'? The other times I've been here were always in February so it was pleasant to climb Camelback and we have plans to go up there tomorrow but I want to go up about 5.30am while the others want to go 'about 8am after breakfast'!!! There'll be many not making it if they get their way. I really hope this qualification I am here for makes this all worthwhile.

Darwin, Austalia. Only for a couple of hours where we changed flights. The walls of the buildings were too hot to touch.

I was in Rhodes, the town of Lindos which is generally warmer than the rest of the Island due to how it sits shielded by the rocky coves. Gorgeous place but was a heat wave & some days hit 45. I'm only fair skinned & 10 mins out with sun cream on & I had horrible heat rash all over. On a morning you opened the apartment door & a blast of dry heat would smack you in the face. I think we should have gone a few months earlier or later as it spoiled the holiday.

I live in the Phoenix suburbs and don't mind the heat until July and August. 6:30am is still pleasant for a ride. I suppose I'm used to it now though.

Phoenix is a dry heat, no worries and it's not too bad once out riding and getting some breeze on your face. Come to Houston where the high temp and humidity will make you feel like a boil in the bag cheese toasty.

I can't cope with heat. In France last time, it got to about 35 one day and I was really suffering. Even the warm spell we had here a couple of weeks back was on the edge of making me lethargic.
