Anyone ever towed a granny shopper.

What I really want is a Burly Travoy or similar, but funds don't allow unfortunately. Today I saw a young woman towing a standard granny trolley which she'd somehow bungeed onto her pannier rack.
it made me think, as I already own a granny trolley! Will I kill myself if I tow it?

Probably. Only one way to find out though

Works a treat. However, when filled with beer and camp chairs (not that sort) it does make the bike, well, unstable. Much easier towing it home despite having emptied it.

I would be a bit wary of using bungee cord to attach it to your bike, too slack and the bungee could disconnect at an awkward time, too tight and nasty things could happen when cornering!
Don't discount the idea entirely, anyone with some mechanical skills could fabricate a connector using bits of scrap from under the shed workbench.
A company called Trailgator makes a connector, it is designed for towing child bike but could be adapted.
I made a trailer and connector which attached to the rear axle, but that would probably be a bit more of a footer to connect and disconnect than a trailer connected to the seat post or rear luggage rack..

... onto her pannier rack.
Don't mind how you do it - but not on to the pannier rack! #2 son had tied #2 daughter's bike to his pannier rack with some rope, and helped pull her up a tough hill.

First I knew of it - half an hour later. Cycling along as a group on a VERY busy road. Son's pannier rack and panniers come adrift, bike goes over, and son rolls over on the road ............ in the path of a ******* big truck.

Thank God the driver was alert to a family out cycling and missed.

Thanks chaaps for your informative replies. Based on Victor and Eddy's notions of angry Granny's and disconecting tow barsI think I'll save up or ask Father Christmas for a Burley!

Keep an eye out in the local papers etc. You can often pick up a s'h kiddy trailer quite cheaply.

Then just take out the seats and bets for a working trailer

(Or leave the belts in if you have a small Granny)

I've got a kiddy triler that I've converted to use for big things and to tow my sons speedway bike to the track.

TBH, I like the idea of the Travoy as a trailer that I can unclip and take inside the supermarket with me. I'm also interested in using it to actually strap the Brompton to - I've had a little resistance taking the Brompton inside places folded in "trolley" mode, and also found it quite difficult to roll on anything but the smoothest surfaces. I was thinking I could use a trolley like this to take it in shopping malls etc and it would be much smoother and less likely to be challanged.

We bought an early BikeHod for shopping many years ago.... it was a lot cheaper that the £600 they are asking for now!

Nice bit of kit, bit has a tendency to flip if you catch the inner wheel on a kerb - I suspect the Travoy will be the same

I've looked at the bike-hod, also Bellelli B-tousrist which can be got for a suspiciously low price). I think one of these options is an ideal companion for the Brompton. I guess the Travoy wins as it also folds into a fairly compact package.

Cracking a solo.
Yes I have. Many years ago when I had inherited my mothers folding bike. That had a pannier rack type thing with a sprung hinged section, the handle of the granny trolley was jammed underneath the sprung section and that held it firmly enough. Worked well enough and didn't fall out, my crys of "Wagons roll!!" entertained me if no one else. Mind you I was around 12 or so at the time and whilst I'm as stupid as I was then I do tend to think more of potential consequences, so I probably wouldn't do it now, then again

I bought a trailer for £60 on fleabay, and it's fine. Not for dragging inside Asda, but holds 3 of the large bags for life easily.

There is quite a selection of cheapish trailers on there, including traveloy and bob yak ripoffs.
