Long shot i know but its always worth asking.

Does anybody have some 1 1/8 headset bearing cups in their parts bin that they could send our way?

Me and a few friends are building a mountain bike up for a local lad who was run over by a uninsured driver a few weeks ago, his bike as a result was trashed. Were salvaging what we can off of the old bike but we cant get the headset cups out of the frame to go into the new frame that we have for him, we would normally just go buy a new headset but we are on a VERY tight budget. We have the bearings and spacers etc we just need the headset bearing cups themselves.

If anybody has some that could be sent our way so we can get the bike built it would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

Just curious, why can't you get the cups out?

Shaun
They just wont shift, we have tried literally everything we know to get them out.
Weve soaked them in penetrating oils, weve given them a good whack, even with the correct tool, they just aren't coming out. Its like they are welded into the frame, although we know that they are not. Were soaking them again tonight and giving it one last try in the morning, but weve pretty much given up on ever getting them out, theyre just not shifting.

If anyone has any other methods of getting them out wed be happy to try.
We do have the correct tool, we have tried using it but the cups arent shifting.
