And homebase has the xmas lights on sale for half price at the moment. I feel a little visit coming on. We've got some new raised beds in our front garden which would definitely benefit from some faux illuminated icicles...
I try to convince er indoors not to put it up until xmas eve, but she won't have it.....................
She will want all the trimmings down ready for 1st Dec.....
I love the Catalan (and other bits of Iberia) modern 'tradition' of having a CAGANER in the nativity scene (basically someone having a crap in the corner)
why is it the majority of our wives/partners seem to want to get the tree and decs up as soon as possible, yet us fellas can't really be arsed?
'er indoors has already asked if I know where the tree and decs are.."In the same place they always are dear.. in the bloody loft"

Yup... on our tree are wrapped up matchboxes we did as kids, some smoking gnomes my Dad brought back from Germany for us which used to cause huge fights as to which colour was whose, tinsel that has definitely seen better days, and a wonky, cardboard, aluminium foil-covered star. Perfect!
We have a star too. And one of the matchbox-parcels is actually wrapped in the gold paper from inside a box of Benson and Hedges, with the little medallion logo cut out from the packet and stuck on for decoration! Dad smoked back then.
Under the tree we have the little angel candle - she's far too pretty ever to be lit, so every year she comes out and goes back safe. She's been doing that ever since I can remember - at least 36 years.
