Anyone had spray foam insulation removed?

The house we're buying has it. It needs to come off. Has anyone here successfully had closed cell foam removed? We may negotiate a price reduction to cover total roof replacement (maybe £25k - it's a big roof) if not, although the roof is in remarkably good condition. It's not as if the vendors will easily find another cash buyer.

If the roof exterior is in good condition, could you just introduce some cross ventilation into the roof space without removing all the foam?

Companies who sell this as a cure all for leaky roofs should have their genitals fixed to the top of the chimney with rusty nails?

I think that is a bit tough, could they just use screws

No but I've removed artex from a bathroom ceiling.
Could you get one of those breathing masks with filters in and scrape it off yourself?
I'd be loathed to buy a house and then to have this to sort out.

I'd go find another house - there's no shortage out there.

That's going to be costly to remove, and if they don't pay or budge accordingly on the price it'll fall to you ifmyou buy it. Why even waste the time thinking about it?

You wont get a 25K reduction on the asking price for a DIY job that anyone can do.
God loves a trier but they will tell you to Foxtrot On. They will just think you are having a laugh if you say you want that much for a roof replacement. It doesn't even warrant that.

for a DIY job that anyone can do.

If you research it, it’s bit more involved than that

I don't think so. It's been on the market for about a year, they are desperate to sell (we offered £20k over what the agent thought their bottom figure was) and this is probably the sticking point. It is otherwise an exceptional house in an exceptional position.

It's stupid because the roof is otherwise really good - but it's probably cost them about £5k to put the foam in and it's going to cost them far more to resolve the issue. The scandal is that companies are still ruining roofs this way.

Ultimately any property is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay. The estate agent will be fully aware of the foam issue & it's consequences. As it's been on the market for over a year would suggest the asking price is too high given it's inherent problems.
