Anyone heard of/used architectyourhome?

We're looking to get our kitchen extended by taking out a wall and extending the space to include what used to be the outside loo and the space outside it.

My wife's been doing some homework and came across this group called architectyourhome, who look like a good bet - they charge set fees from a 'shopping list' of options, and all their architects have to meet certain basic criteria. I found an article on them, which sounded positive, but I was just wondering if anyone out there had any direct experience, good or bad?

Or any related thoughts?

Dell- your call! [never known any architects who use them].

I understand they charge an upfront registration fee for architects to allow them to advertise on the website and then commission for each job architects get from them- it's an agency.... at least they are registered as far as I know.

I've been approached by them when they first started but politely declined.

There the fellas we used. They're just a front for a local architect in your area. You'd be as well to use the Yellow Pages to contact them direct, might save some money. All that said, we did negotiate extra out of ours for the same fee as it became obvious in the prelim meeting that I was not gonna go for it. We didn't get him to do too much beyond ideas, planning, building control and the fee was worth it just for the ideas side. If you wanted more I'd just approach one direct.

Heh. I kept scrolling to the top of that article looking for "Advertisement feature" somewhere. It reads like those fake "articles" they put in magazines, with the same layout as the magazine but paid for by the advertiser.
