As title, I took a photo yesterday and I've searched for quite a while but can't identify this butterfly

Tail End Charlie

Well, write it down boy ......
It's a fritillary of some sort. Possibly a silver washed fritillary?

Google tells me that Tail End Charlie is correct ie it is a silver washed fritillary.
Tell me, where abouts did you see it ?

In North Norfolk - I didn't necessarily think it was a rarity, just worthy of a photo (that was the closest I could get with the phone)

I asked that question as we don't get them oop North.
Well done anyway.

On researching (looking at 'net, if it's to be relied on) it seems they are generally below a line from Mongomeryshire and East Kent - so this ones gone further North - Maybe the global warming

I have "The Osborne Spotter's Guides" on Butterflies.
There are apparently 58 species known as UK ones.
To make it simple (for me) I have ringed those only seen in the south and added a cross to those rarely seen in the UK.
There are quite a lot with rings around them.
