Cut mine down since cancer.two - four pints a month max.Still enjoy a pint.

I've been teetotal since passing my driving test, that was back in 1983
By doing so, it totally removed that possible "One For The Road"

I'm more than happy with Pepsi/Bitter Lemon/etc

Although, I do like Supermalt (not keen on the other variations on the malted drink though)

I was persuaded to try Guiness Zero, but thought it tasted sour (have no idea what normal Guiness is like, back when I did drink, I liked Whitbread Trophy)

Now, though Theakstons have their 'Nowt Peculiar' (zero alcohol), SWMBO likes their Old Peculiar & Bitter, so I might get some & let her try it first before I do

Suffered from severe headaches when I was about 43yrs. Realised that alcohol, even a few sips, triggered a head ache. Also I am usually the driver when we go out, so just stopped completely. Drink the zero alcohol lagers when we go out now, without causing headaches. So tea total for over 32 yrs.

When I'm out straight tonic on the rocks with a slice goes a long way to substitution and has enough of a bite to make it interesting in comparison to alternatives; although tbh other than the occasional desire for some respite from my default state of consciousness I don't miss the alcohol at all. Tbh as far as drugs go I think it's a pretty crap choice on the grand scheme of things..

On a more serious note, there are some excellent alcohol free beers available now, a far cry from the chemical tasting crap that used to be on offer. I would particularly recommend Guinness Zero, I have been a Guinness drinker for decades and they've nailed it with the Zero.
While I've never really done alcohol-free beer since I'm allergic to it and the only incentive to endure the repercussions is the effect of the alcohol, I was introduced to alcohol-free Guinness by a mate a while ago and was really impressed. One is usually enough but it fills the hole well if you're craving a stout and IMO tastes almost indestinguishable from the genuine article

About 10.5 months off the booze myself, since this is evidently turning into a pissing contest

Lucky Saint to my palate is foul, second only to Cobra 0% (utterly foul) of the ones I've tried! Heineken and Peroni 0 are just about drinkable

The low/no alc pale ales are better to me, Big Drop ones good but not in supermarkets, the Brewdog options ok too.
I drink alcohol too but certainly not every day, and usually just one or two pints (spirits or cocktails mainly on holiday)

I have drunk since I was 17 and I'm 78 now.
After 8 days in hospital I have been told I must cut it completely, which won't be easy.
I am/was a whisky drinker (with lemonade).
I have tried various alcohol beers but not found one I like.
My son recommends lime and soda.
Any other thoughts ?

I stopped a while ago when I realised I no longer enjoyed a glass of red wine. Like @wafter I enjoy the occasional tonic water. Sugar free Ribena is good, too.

What I want to know is where has all the money I've saved gone?

Good work - and the money is anyone's guess although you can be sure it's not gone on booze!

I reckon I was spending about £150 per month before I stopped; so that's more than £1.5k saved - makes me feel better about the most recent cycle purchase

Are "soft" drinks and/or alcohol free versions cheaper than alcohol drinks?, not in my experience, 0% Wine is dearer than the "normal" stuff, soft drinks in pubs are exorbitant, an alcohol free G&T is more expensive than a "normal" one.
