Anyone on here given up alcohol. What did you substute it with ?

On a more serious note, there are some excellent alcohol free beers available now, a far cry from the chemical tasting crap that used to be on offer. I would particularly recommend Guinness Zero, I have been a Guinness drinker for decades and they've nailed it with the Zero.

On the infrequent occasions when I give up alcohol, I find that Virgin Mary's hit the spot, mainly due to the spiciness.

Tomato juice
Ice
Tobasco
Lea and Perrins (lots of it)
Celery salt
Ground pepper.....
.........and if you're feeling reckless........
a small teaspoon of horseraddish sauce.

Give it a go.

The obvious option that I haven't seen anyone suggest is Adams ale: cheap, abundant, healthy.

Fruit juice isn't a particularly healthy habit to get into, the sugar in it counts just the same as spooning it from the sugar bowl.

Guiness I've tried. Kinda OK but...naaah. If the ghost Ship comes in a flat brown bottle, I've tried and rejected that too. I'll look again and give it a go if I don't recognise the bottle.

Interestingly the human body produce its own alcohol in small amounts due to gut fermentation.

No added sugar ginger beer for me. Nil or low alcohol beer just reminds me that beer, wine and spirits actually taste horrible and people only drink them for the alcohol.
