:bicycle:Back in the summer of 2010 I got a bit bored at work, and started to think about any unusual record I might be able to set while on holiday in the Ardennes -while, of course, expending the minimum possible effort in the process.

A few weeks later I put down my marker by, depending on how you look at it, either (a) cycling across Belgium ( I call it the "Trans Belgium Sprint") or (b) cycling in 3 different countries, in a time of 1 min 32 secs.

This involved a sprint of just over half a mile from near the village of Leiler in Luxembourg into a little sticky out bit of Belgium, followed by a hard right skid onto a rough track into the woods marked "Eintritt Verboten" (yeah, yeah, ..... whatever that means) into Germany.

I have to admit it is eminently beatable, as I was slowed down by traffic and was very out of shape at the time, but I'll claim it as a World Record for the moment:wahhey: - though no doubt it will soon be relegated to a Mid Gloucestershire Civil Service Bald Veteran's Super-Heavyweight Record!

Anyone else made up their own event and set a world record?

Until someone comes along and makes a liar of me, I claim to be the only person in history to have cycled end-to-end of Britain and driven end-to-end of Africa. So, as the achievement is (apparently) unique, I must have done it in world record time (about 16 years). Of course, it is also the slowest time ever......but we gloss over that. ;)

You, Sir, are a true hero. I've got 15 years, 364 days to try and beat that, then.

I rode to and up Holme Moss the first time I ever got on a road bike. However, the probable record I have is for an ascent that was more than likely slower than getting off and walking. I'd already done close to 30 miles, my legs were totally gone and I had to stop every 50-100m or so.

I don't know how long it took, but my mate thought I'd given up he was waiting so long at the top and eventually came back down to look for me. I did it though...then another 30 miles home!

Oh, well if you are going to attempt the record (currently unachievable, BTW, because of trouble in Central Africa and Egypt), I'll find the exact time for you to beat. I mean, I wouldn't want you to go to all the trouble and then find you came second..... ;)
On my commute home, MapMyRide once claimed I rode from the office to my house via Cairo, at something like 4700km per hour. I deleted it and I kicked myself immediately after.
You fool. I'd have laminated it and displayed it prominently on my bike forever more.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
In My young days I could drink a pint through a sock and say the alphabet backwards all under 6 secs

I think I must have the world record for scoring a hat-trick of goals in a football match. From kick off took ball from opposition inside left and went down pitch to score first goal. Second goal was repeat of first. Third goal, ball was passed to opposition centre half, took ball from him and scored. Next kick off, ball was kicked out to right wing away from me. Only four opposition players had touched the ball and no-one other than me on our team.

The deputy headmaster who did all the caning at my Approved School claimed that I was the boy he caned the most throughout his teaching career.
I was also the most prolific absconder in the school and no-one got as far away as I usually did, up to the north of Scotland from Wiltshire.

Well, they're records of sorts and should fit the "silly records" title.
