Has anyone tried the aldi puncture repair kit that was on sale with all the winter cycling gear, got my bike out today to find i had a flat tyre, from not a puncture as such as it was on the side rather than on the top, but a stone pinch after a farmer deposited stones and cow poo all over the road, the patches are a bit big and only 2 sizes, i tried sticking one on and no good it didnt stick, done loads in the past where they usually sort of melt the rubber to adhere properly, i believe its called vulcanisation, so can anyone recommend a good repair kit.

Pretty much any that your LBS will sell, or even Halfords. Part of the problem is that the glue goes off after a time so it is worth replacing the outfit periodically before finding out on the road that the patches wont stick.

Some people are recommending glueless patches, but never having used them cannot comment.

I never knew the glue went off. Thank you for the tip.

I am still using the same solvent (it isn't glue) for the last 3 years.

Really? That's good going. I puncture so rarely (says he tempting fate) that I'm close to making the decision not to bother repairing and simply replace the tube. It seems I have to buy a new repair kit to repair one tube because the glue - sorry solvent ;) - has gone off since the last repair!
