I would think one of the major aims of both Shimano and Campagnolo during R&D of electronic systems was to ensure they were fully weatherproofed. Unless experience proves otherwise it wouldn't be something that worried me as I've ridden many wet weather miles on motorcycles packed with fairly exposed electrical systems and they never missed a beat.

I used mine in the Prudential Ride London 100 (86) this year, it doesn't get much wetter than that, never gave it a thought that it might not work or play up, has been faultless since Ive had it.
