this type of anti social behaviour is now endemic.
I don;t go to the cinema anymore because of people using mobile phones during a screening.
Me too, plus the stench of popcorn, the tons of litter left behind ... and it's expensive for the whole family and the fact I find most films crap and sleep through them anyway .....

Really? Never had an issue, apart from some people looking at it which creates a nice shiny light.

A London problem perhaps?

I go to the Art House these days. Much more civilised, and you get away from the latest guff from Hollywood too.

The only time I had that was when I was with a group of people, one of whom was a recent immigrant from Iraq, and he proceeded to talk in a very loud voice on his phone to someone back home. We quickly got him to stop, but he didn't understand what the problem was.

Agree. I recently complained to cineworld about the use of mobile phones as it really spoilt our enjoyment of a film. We walked about about half way through. They sent a lovely letter (and 2 vouchers) basically saying they didn't have the staffing power to police it. Surely there must be something they can do as I'm sure there are many people who are put off or indeed, don't bother going anymore.

Vue cinemas now have infra red cameras facing the audience with a very clear TV picture out in the foyer.

I've told people off at the cinema for using mobiles, always fun!

Did you ever go to Not The Moulin Rouge in Headington or the PPP downtown in Oxford, Fabbers? NTMR used to let you take beers in and if it was really cold they'd put the 3-bar fire on. A fine cinema experience, good films on too! Think they were owned by the guy with the shark in his roof at one time. Halcyon days...

Had the same lack of manners at the AmDram theatre group I was with.

While members were on stage rehearsing the rest of the attendees would sit around talking loudly, playing music on phones, creating litter, arsing about and preventing the director, and the actors on stage, from being heard. No amount of telling would get them to keep quiet for more then a few minutes before it was back up to full volume.

If I was directing I would have them all standing outside the hall, regardless of weather, if they couldn't keep quiet.

Oxymoron alert ....

It might be now, but that was in Bobby Robson's day. A great man whose boots Harry Redknapp would not have been fit to polish.

..and here, for record is my full post wot FF kindly abridged and distorted to meet his devious ends..

AAaarrgghhh! AaaaaaaaaRgh!

I used to enjoy football. I used to go and watch Ipswich Town, and you have to like football a lot do that. Now I hate it. It represents all that is wrong with the human race.

I don't really have a problem with the quality of the films, but the quality of the audience is another matter, why would anyone want to pay that kind of admission fee just to f**k about?

My son has one of these every year. Last year was the first time anyone stayed to the end. Most leave when their presentation bit is over, leaving the last team with a handful of parents about.
Slightly different, but my niece took part in race for life last Sunday running 3 miles, but it was so annoying how many people left when their relative/friend had finished and not bothering to stay and applaud the last few, who deserved an ovation as much as anyone.

nope. its a national thing. i got verbally abused in a cinema in Chester for asking the guy in front to stop using his mobile. he offered to take me outside, then i stood up and his attitude changed somewhat.
