Ok about a year ago i bought an ipod shuffle whilst i was training for the marathon. since april its sat in my car unused. Dug it out this week, wouldnt charge, presumably the battery is dead. Now i suppose i could have tried to return it to argos..... unsurprisingly no receipt so thats out.
Anyway poking round the apple website i discover this,
If it still in warranty and hasnt been physically or liquid damaged they will replace it.
They will send you one in the post and you have to return your one to them. They take a Credit Card auth for £16 (in the case of the shuffle) to ensure that you send yours to them and that it isnt physically or liquid damaged.
Dont like the net? Rock up at an apple shop and they will replace it there and then.
Not near an apple shop? Go to an apple service centre and they will send it off for you.
All in all i thought this was a surprisingly good service as i had kind of resigned myself to being stuffed as i had no receipt.

(I should add that they obviously have a record of when you bought it as they new how many days were left on my warranty)
