Switch it off, unplug it. Place your mobile inside, switched on. Close the microwave door & phone your mobile. It shouldn't ring, if it does your microwave may have dodgy door seals or you might be close to a mast.
One does, one doesn't.
700 yards from the nearest mast.

The difference could be down to different frequencies/sensitivities in the phones. I'd give the door seals a good clean & try again. Our signal varies with the weather too, some days you can't get a signal & we're 1/2 mile from the town centre!

We have a light bulb that was fitted in the 1980's, we have only been in the house since 1993 and it's still going.
Our 1993 oven we passed onto my sister a few years ago, still going strong in daily use.
And I've just donated a small fridge to the charity shop that I bought 2nd hand of a mate in 1988, it's still going strong, been on all day every day for the last 35+ years

To resurrect an old thread, our 1980's light bulb, a now illegal, 100 watt model "made in the EEC" and sold by Safeways has finally blown tonight after quarter of a century of daily use.

The oven above also finally has gone to the great white goods store in the sky in the last few months.

They don't make them how the used to !

It's a bit more complicated than that...

(Not the bulb, obvs. That would be silly.)

My old washing machine lasted seven years and could almost rupture the space-time continuum when it went into fast spin. The bearings went and you couldn't even be in the same room with it unless you were either wearing serious ear protection or were already deaf. Years ago I saw Ben Elton in Bristol who talked about modern appliances having a special chip in them that causes them to fail about 1 microsecond after the guarantee expires:blush:.

They never did. As you are well aware, most of the bulbs you purchased around the same time as that would have been gone within a year. It's a bell curve and for any globe that managed to last decades, there were many that blew within a few minutes of being switched on.

The incandescent bulb is the source of the concept of planned obsolescence that this thread is bemoaning.

Ironic, seeing as his entire act ceased to be funny 1 microsecond before he opens his mouth.
