I stripped and cleaned the bike on Monday.

Shouldn't have bothered. Looks worse now after 3 days commute than before.

yes, I'm not a bike tart at all but I looked at the downtube with some bemusement this afternoon puzzling over a pattern of dirt almost all the way up to the seatpost

Is the fact I'm still wearing shorts (albeit 3/4 length) anything to do with the fact the winter has been fairly mild so far? If I switch to longs is it all going to suddenly turn to shoot?

Is the fact there hasn't been ice covering the entire country yet been because I've put studded tyres on my bike? If I put the slicks back on will the roads suddenly get frozen?

I can't remember which way round these things work.
