Are Bose products good enough to justify their prices?

I have the Bose AE2 headphones. They're definately the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn, and on top of that, the sound is well balanced with a hint of accentuated bass, but not too much to be unnatural. Excellent quality, and perfect for me.

Are they worth the £120 price tag? I'd say yes. Look after them, get them a case, and they'll last as long as you want. On top of that the comfort is excellent for those 8+ hour flights (ever wondered why everyone on long-haul/transatlantic flights are wearing Bose headphones?).

That said, I paid 140 dollars for mine back when that was closer to £70. Although I doubt I'd buy that DAB radio.. £600 and no external speakers?

I have had a Bose radio.

Great, deep and full bodied noise from a small package but it cost me £5 from a car boot and I wouldn't pay more than £50 for one.

For £600 you could do a lot better elsewhere.

Here for rides.
Some of their sound reinforcement gear for live performance gives incredible performance.
Some of their consumer kit is overpriced parp.

Also I wouldn't buy a DAB radio at this point. Isn't DAB about to be killed off? Someone know for sure?

Internet radio is pretty good. Personally I stream from my phone or ipad with a feed straight into my little bedroom amp. Works a treat.

I like Bose kit, pricey but a very natural sound, I have AE2 cans, and the in-ear things (IE2?) which I got in 2007, and a Bluetooth headset which I've had for about 18 months, and some Companion 2s and an old home cinema kit, both the last two bought 'seconds' from their store in Gunwharf Quays.

It is pricey but it's a safe buy, it works well, nothing flash, just good solid performance, easy to use and without drawbacks, IMO. Better stuff might be available at a better price but, when you know that you just want stuff to be dependable and reliable, to just work, then I don't mind paying a bit of a premium for that. The Bluetooth never drops connections, the in-ear buds never fall out and have a neck strap anyway, the PC speakers sound natural right up to full whack... etc.

I've not tried any of their Wave products, but I would if we needed something like that.

Always makes me smile a topic like this one, cyclists by nature are normally extremely tight when it comes to spending money. Ask the same question on a Porsche or Ferrari forum and the answer may be different.

Eh? Have you see how much some of them will spend on a bike?;)

Whatever the genre, there is stuff that some people think is 'worth it' and others don't. My brother in law is into hi-fi and one time we all went to London to buy some widget which travelled home in the car, swaddled in a duvet. He plugged it in, turned the set on and triumphantly switched it in and out to demonstrate the improvement. I couldn't hear a mite of difference myself, so for my ears, clearly anything more than my bedside clock radio and poundshop earphones is a waste of money!

(Just as, no matter how much was spent on a fancy carbon bike with electronic shifting and unobtanium wheels, I'll still be a fat little cyclist who hates hills and likes cake.)

Although, I'd love to have the £££ to be able to comment from first hand experience. I saw a TV comparison show a couple of years back that did a blind test. Opera singer at one end of the room and then several top end systems. The Bose and the Human both came out as being the one the blind testers thought was a real human being.

I dont know about the DAB radios but back in the early 90s I had 4 Bose cube speakers, all about 4" square and boy did those little things nearly get me locked up a few times.....incredibly loud and the sound was very rich........I have grown up a lot since my partying days but if the quality is still the same the radios should be worth the money
