Some cyclists do over react, and some of those have helmet cameras.

This guy:
http://www.youtube.c...r/TesterAnimal1

Seems to over react over a lot of things. Watch his latest one about red light and planning. yeah, bad driving, but he sounds like he is going to cry. It wasn't that big a deal, certainly not worth the argo. Maybe stopping and clapping or something patronising if you really must.

On the other hand, this guy does have some very, very good videos (depending on how you look at it). One where he gets hit by a wing mirror and nearly ends up under a car. I couldn't fault any reaction to that. Especially as the driver didn't stop.

I'll be honest, if you look at some of my past videos I probably over react, or at least post really boring stuff. I seem a lot more laid back recently, but if something is bad I will react. I do try to remain calmer and let things go though.

Maybe he's lost the plot on this one ............. Can't quite see the point of his rant at the moton.

I'd be embarassed if that were my video

Yes, the car driver should have waited. Personally I'd have just positioned myself where the car would be forced to wait and go through the lights after me (watching for the close pass) - or..if I had gone forward.. Look at all that space between the lead car and the berlingo turning left. More than generous room to slot in, without going through a red light and then cycling at right angles to the queue

oh good lord..looking at some of the vids...we can all get cross, and occasionally lose it but it's a constant stream of ...pig f******r, c***t....the bloke needs to chill out

Actually I'm glad he's on a bike and not in a car with that anger

I think some on here are being unfairly critical. We always knew that there would be a couple of people acting like cocks (they do it in their cars on youtube too, lets not forget), however some of the critique of Tester Animal, etc, is a little unfair I feel. It is clearly not acceptable to drive within an inch of a cyclist's handlebar, or clip them with a van wing mirror. To suggest that he should shut up and put up is wrong. We need to be vocal sometimes otherwise things will never improve. This counts on the road and in campaign.

Use it or lose it, you might say.

Having a look at the video on the OP its hard to tell if they've gone on the pavement or leaned at an extreme angle and scooted with the tyres in the road. Not best practise however.

There is no legal requirement to indicate, there is legislation about overtaking on the left.

Norm.? Can you point us in the direction of the relevant legislation on the latter and proof on the former?

Just to point out, in my first post I did make clear that I can legitimately understand his reaction in some of his videos. When that same reaction is applied to something minor I loose patience. I care even less when he's telling someone else off for doing the same thing as himself.

I've no problem with him posting videos of the more minor stuff, just his reaction to it. Ultimately, I feel it portrays cycling badly and that those who witness it will give him, and other cyclists, less consideration later on.

+1 - I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the one linked above where he just keeps riding further and further past a red light, raging at a motorist following him (who looks a bit old and might even have been literally following him in confusion).

So awful it almost redeems itself - legendarily bad.

While I'm sure it does no favours, I don't think people who drive dangerously really have the attitude they do because of the actions of random individuals they see about town. If it's not RLJ, it's pavement riding. If it's not pavement riding, it's no lights. If you've got lights and riding on the road obeying red lights, it's road tax. If you started paying road tax they'd hate you for going too slow, or too fast, or taking up space either way.

Do you think that helmet cameras sometimes make the wearers more aggressive? ... if the cyclist wasn't wearing a camera they would have just got on with it.

Mine has made me less angry, because youtube is now my outlet. When someone annoys me, I just think "good, another one for the clips" and I get on with it.
I don't tend to post clips unless they have really infuriated me, most days I just delete my film rather than spend 20 mins editing & posting it.

I suppose it's a case of some people with them just do it for their own protection/education, others go OTT and scream "you're on camera" at any minor thing and just make themselves look like a tit.

Same as anything in life I suppose...

I also have found that I tend to be calmer when I have a camera running. I have it mounted to the front of my handlebar stem nestled between the front light and trip computer. TBH it is something that is not glaringly obvious, unless you are right up close. I only upload if it is something that can either be educational, entertaining or be used as evidence.

By reviewing my own videos, I have been able to learn about what position is best for various different circumstances. I have also used it as a stopwatch to see how quickly I had covered 20k.

I messaged testeranimal1 last night, pointing to this thread and maybe to calm down over the minor stuff. he replied:

My fuse is all burnt out. They've used it all up. So that's just tough on the next one who pushes me around.

Not really sure what to make of it. If anyone wants to see my message I'll post it.

Well, to me it sounds like he's not riding with a rational head. Anyone that makes a small, minor error he will let fly at. That's not healthy.

I very much doubt he never makes a mistake.
