Are crud road racer mud guards for road bikes anything decent?

Fitted mine today ( crud mk2) , perfect, no rubbing or noise. Just 2 new cable ties needed. Club member has race blade longs has only good things to say about them

Standard full mudguards need very little if any more clearance than crudguards. You just have to discard the normal fork crown or brake bridge fittings and use cable ties instead.
Put two holes either side of the centreline, and run a cable tie through the holes on the same side and over the shoulder of the fork crown. If the arch of the brake caliper is lower than the fork crown, put a spacer under the fork crown as if you pull the mudguard higher than the brake caliper you'll force the front end of the mudguard down onto the tyre.

fitted mk2's to the eldests road bike last winter, they look flimsy out of the box but are far stronger in use, no problems fitting them and the wet & mud protection is excellent

I got mine a few days ago, the instructions are rubbish and there's no decent tutorials on how to fit them. I found one video but the guy just says things like 'take these bits off and put them over onto this bit' while it's too dark to see what he's talking about!

They are easy to fit, getting the best position for the stays is the tricky bit. Trial and error really...

I fitted Crud RoadRacers Mk2 on Friday night and had nothing but problems with them on Saturday's CC Ecosse ride with bits falling off, rubbing, etc - clearance on a 54 Triban 3 is very tight, and I would say the official Crud "video" is amatuarish, the guy is hacking away at it with a hacksaw when a stong pair of kitchen scissors does a much neater job.
After a bit of fettling and removal of parts I've got them working without any squeaks or rubs, they DO keep the mud and water off but I'd recommend buying a big bag of cable ties when you purchase these mudguards - you're going to need them.

Fitted them on my Triban - from start to finish in about 40 minutes - I am a man so didn't even try to read instructions!
I trimmed about an inch from the front mudguard as it was catching the tyre - apart from that no problems whatsoever and only used the supplied cable ties. Fubar is right, the plastic is thin enough to cut with a sharp pair of kitchen scissors and the cut will be neater than if you use a hacksaw.

I'm planning to fit my Crud Roadracers Mk2 on Saturday. From what I'm hearing it does not bode well for me!
