I'd guess the sentiment of OP, excluding the ill, infirm, those unable to regulate heat...is there will still be a proportion of society that are oblivious to the risks and will obliviously overdo the sun, drink etc etc and the NHS will suffer for it.

No harm in the sentiment, perhaps just not put over in the best way (imho)

Suggesting I’m stupid is stupidity in itself, and without wanting to get into a pointless internet argument there are still things people can do to mitigate extremes.
Cool clothing, hydration, the cool place in the house etc etc etc…

My partner wore a hat, sun cream, drank plenty, but was still vomiting and shivering for 4 days after she sat out in the sun. She didn't realise that a lengthy hospital stay and recovering from an op would render her less resiliant to the sun. She did call herself stupid for doing it though

Just consider what the average intelligence is in this country - and at what level that sits at.

Then think of all the population that are below average intelligence, and there is your answer.

  • Altered temperature regulation:
Some chemotherapy drugs can interfere with the body's ability to regulate its temperature, making it harder to stay cool.

  • Dehydration:
Chemotherapy can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, leading to dehydration, which makes it harder for the body to cool itself down.

  • Skin sensitivity:
Some chemotherapy drugs can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight, increasing the risk of sunburn and other heat-related problems, like overheating and becoming unwell.

  • Increased fatigue:
Chemotherapy can cause fatigue, and heat can exacerbate this, making patients feel even more tired and drained.

  • I feel crap this morning.light headed, dozy, sick and a headache.I am not doing well in this heat at all. This is 19 months after finishing chemo.Yet i would go out for hours, plenty of water bottles, top ups at rest stops, lather myself in factor 50 all day. It's a bugger now.
