I said infrastructure not utilities……
Charge points are utilities, and all of the things I mentioned are part of an infrastructure that has to be national to work effectively.

They do sound mad, unlike a zzzzzzzzzzz from an equally fast leccy car.
It is as it is - I want a small leccy 4/5 seater town car please someone - like an Aygo with a battery. PLEASE. The ICE would be used for hauling, the little thing we'd charge at home and bob about, but needs to seat 4. Not a big ask. More please. The Zoe has gone silly money !

You do know that 'the council' don't have money of their own don't you?
They were provided with grants to do so, as i stated in my original post….did you not read properly???

Where do people think these grants provided by central government to councils come from? Not from thin air, nor altruistic wealthy philanthropists for sure…

At present, that would just have been wasted money because ... ⬇️Just imagine if the government had invested a fraction of the money they've pumped into EV's, including new roads, into supporting alternatives ways of working to reduce the need to travel, and supporting alternative modes of transport to the private car.
I wonder how many of those thinking they're 'green' because they can afford an EV and solar panels would be prepared to use public transport more?
£20k for a tin box... good god.. no need cheaper.
The "honeymoon period" is set to end in 2025, when EV's are set to be come liable for VED. Hopefully based on the value of the vehicle.
LOL if you think that zero VED was the reason we bought electric.
1/8 of the fuel costs. Was 1/10.
Oh when I get my solar panels it will be less.
Less pollution.
And they're just very nice and easy to drive.
