I don't think my first name's brilliant (Stewart) as I just don't like the sound and everyone always spells it Stuart - someone I work with still spells it like that (after 4 years!).

I much prefer either of my two middle names but haven't got the bottle to change now. Terrible, really :-(

My brother was in the RAF for 22 years and had a mate he knew more or less the whole time he was in.

Just before he came out and I phoned him up and asked to speak to Mike!

He said he didn´t know anyone called Mike.

I remembered that most/all service personnel have a nickname, so said he´s called Tiny (he´s a big bloke, my brother).

He called out ´Tiny´ and on passing the phone over to him, I heard him say `I didn´t know your name was Mike!´ After 22 years!

'sfunny that. My brother is a Robert and we all call him Rob at home. In the Raf they all called him Bob and we couldn't work out at parades, etc. who the flying f&8* they were talking about when they said "Bob". Se we now call him "Bob" with a Blackadder emphasis to annoy him.

Benjamin and happy with it.

Would entirely agree, which is why our first born was called the same.

Always hated mine as a youngster, but it has grown on me as I have got older. I don't care if people abbreviate it either.

Ben now plays rugby with a lot of unusually named boys, some of which I like (Noah, Fin) and one which I think is very cool - Chilli.
