Quite a difference, depending on where you live.

There’s not enough info on that screenshot for me to understand it.

Is there more of an explanation of what the colours and the numbers represent?

I'm guessing the green side of the scale is 4 people out of a 100 die before the age of sixty, and the red side is 14.7/100 die before sixty.
Blackpool looks like the hotspot

You'd have to delve in the background data properly, but at a glance that appears linked to poverty/wealth.
I think this is a well established fact, simply a question of which areas have the highest/lowest rates.

It looks like a reasonable picture to me. Drug-plagued Scotland takes a heavy blow and the City slickers from Surrey all leave before they are 60 to go and live forever in Hampshire. Nothing like as simple as that in reality, but considerations such as those are in play. I wonder if the isle of Arran has a number of drug re-hab clinics for the afflicted addicts of Glasgow? I once remarked on the age profile of Lymington in Hampshire to a local priest: "Oh yes!" he said; "all the geriatrics live here — and their parents live in New Milton." New Milton being another settlement on the coast only a few miles away. Birds of a feather…

I think the data for Arran for this map is probably skewed by the small population ( less than 5000). Arran also has higher life expectancy than the Scottish average.
Glasgow has areas with the lowest and highest life expectancies in Scotland, so there should definitely be some red there!

I suspect that the Arran stats are grouped in with places like Largs, Ardrossan & Irvine; I doubt the state pension is much of a burden in those towns which is sad because, geographically they've got a lot going for them.
