[Little yellow Brompton]

To back up the Cyo on the Brompton I bought a cheapie 5 Led light which I intended to use in flashing mode. I bought two as they were cheap ( fleabay).First one , the bracket snapped as I fiddled with it out of the packet. That ended up on the Voyage , held on with a cable tie. The second went onto the Brompton on the top side of the bottom of the P bars, great! Then I folded the Brompton, the light hit the front wheel and snapped the mounting!
Swapped that light for the one on the Voyage ( good mounting, broken bracket) and pu tthe mounting on the bottom side of the bottom of the P bars, between the gear and brake cables. Cautiosly folded the Brompton, light clears the wheel, just.

All good! All sorted, packed my B bag ready for the morning, went to put it on bike. Light fouls the bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, the joys of cycling. Whenever I install anything knew on the bike I always end up making a balls-up. I bought a front light bracket a few weeks ago. Didn't check all the screws on it, and one managed to wriggle free mid-ride.

Had to ride home in the dark with no front light, being very cautious to avoid right hooks.

LYB, Have you sorted out your light situation as i have a few nik naks in the shed and amongst all that lot i may have a spare mounting for a rear light if you need one. Will have a look tomorrow if you want. no guarantees though.

Thanks for the offer, I have dozens of bits and pieces in the garage, and problem isn't the mounting but the clearance. And to top it all off , I just remebered I need to be using the touring bike tomorrow not the Brompton!

Why are some light brackets so awkward to fit? I wouldn't have believed one nut and bolt could cause so much headscratching. I've managed to get them on back to front before now and not realised till I've tried fitting the light on (in the dark) managed to loosen the fitting enough to have it under the bar rather than on top.

Couldn't find my backup light on Saturday as I was going to work, so slung a couple of camping headtorches in my bag. As well really, since the bike light batteries ran out after 10 minutes, ended up tying one of them on the front reflector with the elastic and wearing the other. Going to make it a habit to keep one of them in my pocket.

Cable ties are also well worth keeping on the bike, weigh nothing and almost priceless when you need one. You can even store them inside your bars if you are short of storeage ...
