That is close, unnecessarily so. I'd report it to TfL, personally.

p.s. your camera is mounted low - could I ask which camera, and how it's mounted? Also on what bike?

The camera is a Veho Muvi Micro and is mounted on the right front fork (by use of cable ties and a strip of velcro) on a Trek 7200

Yes, that's a terrible overtake. Report it if you can.

I would suggest a stronger road position, to help to discourage that kind of driving. (I am not, of course, suggesting you are in any way to blame here!)

Points to raise with TfL:

- His position was far too close (looks like you were about 30-40cm from the kerb, and pausing at 10 seconds you can see his wing mirror overhanging the ledging on the tarmac. This is typically 50-60cm from the kerb (you can download the guidelines or measure it to be sure)

- Not only did he put you in danger but also risked coming close to the drivers on the other side of the road from the video.

- Quote Rule 163 of the highway code, and the Institute of Advanced Motorists guidence on 3 feet for overtaking (the furthest right protrusion of the cyclist..)

im sure it was close but to be honest i dont think that your low camera position really helps to portray this.

just my opinion

Camera positions, wide angle lenses, lighting and head/bike movement can sometimes give a misleading idea of proximity, but there's no arguing that was C L O S E!

If you look at the paint markings on the road, then it's reasonably obvious that it was horrendously close. Add to the wheel position an imagined handlebar width for good measure...

not denying it was close at all, but the low camera angle does seem to widen things out a bit, just an observation :becool:

The low camera made me think it was a bent. However, the position would be the same as a helmet or on the handlebars, other than lower.

Definitely close.
