i work for a engine maker and the last 2 days have been spent pulling apart and putting back together , an 11 litre engine .

my arms ache through having to undo and do up all the bolts etc etc , last day tomorrow .

been very good

I have the workshop manual for a Rolls Royce CV12 27 litre engine and just flicking through the pages of that is hard work!

Is the 11 litre a Perkins?

It could be a marine engine. I did some work many, many, (oh God is it really as long as that?) many years ago at a marine engineers in Brentford and the size of the pistons on the engine they were working on were HUGE. I can't recall clearly now but they must have been over a meter in diameter .

the engine we have been playing with is a small engine , some of them go up to 90+ litres !!! and are almost the size of a normal family car .

and yes colly pistons we were handling today were 125 mm dia the biggers ones are huge , i cant remember diameter
