You've woken up, the World has ended. That is to say everyone has karked it from some mysterious cause, but you've survived and the place is intact and not ravaged by nuclear fire.

Where will you go? What will you do? What will you eat and drink? Would you pinch that nice Cervelo from the bike shop?

Am I completely alone, or are there other survivors I need to compete with for resources? If I'm alone then I'd find a farm and begin to learn to farm it. After all I'd need food once the food in the supermarkets ran out/rotted. I'd build a big American style water tower too for fresh water. This plan would obviously only work if I was alone since such activity would undoubtably attract other survivors who might wish to steal resources rather than create their own.

^ What he said.

There's libraries to learn the farming from. Hopefully chickens survived too so I can put them in a sandwich.

If animal life survived I'd have to learn to shoot too cos critters would start getting out of zoos or coming down from the hills.

I was thinking...

Get away from any major cities for at least a year. They're going to pong a bit, and typhoid etc might become an issue in the short term.

Food, canned or dried in the short to medium term. Would I do a bit of farming, or hunting, or both?

Water, bottled no problem. By the time I've guzzled all the Pellegrino the rivers and streams should be all clean.

If it happened today then fuel would be no problem to run a Landy, but in 20 years when everything is electric then running a car might be problematic.

I'd move well away from any nuclear power stations, up wind of them for obvious reasons. Perhaps the Scottish highlands near one of the larger towns.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I would stay where I am as i am in the middle of nowhere. Plenty of sheep, cattle, some pigs around here as well as chickens. I would get a wind turbine from somewhere though, so i would have electricity. I already have plenty of rainwater, and private sewerage, and getting vegetable seeds wouldn't be hard either. I would be quite happy, although it would be quite nice if the weather improved here as a result of whatever happened.

I might even be brave enough to take my vest off.

Depends on how fast it happened & whether there's been any change in climate as a result.

First things first, get something to eat. Work out a plan whilst having something to eat, never think on an empty stomach.

Do the bodies require clearing or have they gone as well? Nature would start reclaiming in a short space of time, so there'll be that to contend with.

A waste of time in some ways getting and installing an electrical supply. Heat and light only required, better portable than fixed.
