@roubaixtuesday not sure if you saw the local news but there is also a major issue up at Macc forest with Larches. Very worrying.

I wasn't aware.

I noticed the felling at Lamaload but didn't realise it was disease caused.

Below was one of my favourite views on a ride (& posted in the Wind Turbine thread as my attempt at 'Big Trees'...) and below that the result of a recent disease, the farmer has had to cut them down, not sure what type of tree they were?

It's not going to help global warming if all the millions of trees they are planting have to be cut down !

Honestly, they are a pox up here. Absolute PITA, constantly pulling saplings out of our garden.

A bit sad that they all might die off though. The woods (predominantly Ash) opposite the front of our house have looked a bit sparse for a few yeas now.

It's so sad. Is nobody else noticing? It doesn't get mentioned in the media at all, yet is such a devastating loss to the country.

It's excellent wood for many things, because it's hard but flexes.

Also when oiled it can have such strong stripes it looks like a zebra.
