"Well, dunno about the road rules there in the UK but here in Spain, if you are on the outside of the roundabout you have the line rights to keep on it or exit whenever you want, so he was on his lane and you were going into his.

A comment made, now it seems to logically hold some merit, however im not sure on the theological and practical truth too,it
"The left lane is for exit 1 and 2 the second lane is for exit 3 and 4. I was using exit 3. As you can see why its works like that, it stops people being cut up!"

I simply am not sure of the answer, but i do think im right, but could be wrong.

I've always been taught that if you're taking an exit before 12 O'Clock you take the left lane. After 12 O'Clock, you take the right lane, unless the road markings say otherwise. So I think you're right.

Thats how i was taught. It also seems logical and this incdient kinda shows why, but agian i could be wrong.

We have a few RAB's around here where both are correct, it's a guessing, filtering game.
