How much urban cycling do you do Linf?

Ive got to admit, I didnt even know cyclist filter lanes for ASLs even existed until I read this thread.

I live a mile from the centre of town of 120,000 people. This town is 3 miles from a city with 120,000 people. I could do a 30 mile ride on a Saturday morning and never leave this area without having to cross my own tracks. Most of that would be classed as 'urban'. Most lights here have ASL's and feeders into them.

Better still, just scrap the dangerous ones like asl's cos they tick boxes but increase risk. The only ones to benefit are the council's as it increases their budgets

Do they?

I have at least four junctions on my route to work where left hooks are the standard practice. An ASL solves this problem, improving safety manifold

THere is no simple answer, but making drivers see cycle lanes as proper road lanes would be a better way forward than simply accepting bad driving

Well I suppose you could, but it's a scary place out there ;)

(Usual JPEG not used due to phone)

I don't want to do any 2 wheel stuff ATM if I'm totally honest either powered or cycled
Anyone who does with this weather heas either talken leave of their senses or has no other options open to them to get around

Dont make me do it again.

Some rely on dumb bravado to stumble through life (or not), and some rely on past experiences or that of others to help steer a safer path for the future...once you have done it, can you report back ?

That red windsock warning of death and destruction for this afternoon is above your house isn't it ?

....
Whats the threshold for cycling? Personally, I know its "uncomfortable" above about 15mph.

When you only feel safe cycling along the apex of the road...andthe oncoming vehicles have the same idea.

steady wind is annoying, gusting is downright dangerous.

I had a Honda CBX750 blown off its centre stand in 1990 when it was parked with a cover over it. This bike would have probably been about 1/4 tonne ...ish all up
