I have looked into the Giant but can't find a dealer close enough that runs with C2W, I'm kinda limited where I can go due to buying with a voucher

In that case I will do a U turn and suggest you take Tissot's advice . look at the bike not the store :blush

That's what bothers me slightly about going down the online sales route...

I understand that you can do better for your money, but I think having local backup if there's any issues, plus the fact I can go try it out makes more sense. The guys down there seem to know what they're on about, and are more than happy to make up a deal on bits and pieces, ie they've said they'll fit wider bars and longer stem FOC because I'm broad shouldered and long torso...

I don't know a lot about Trek as a brand (I'm a big Cube fanboy and love my LTD Pro MTB) but I see a lot of Trek bikes out on the road so they can't be hat bad can they?

They use a fitting system that uses infant red sensors on the important parts of your body so i think it's quite in depth fitting they're offering, as well as cleat/pedal set up.

The frames are off the self ! The only way to get a frame that fits is to have it made around your geometry . as you say you can shorten and widen the bits to suite Ie bars stem crank length etc
Does planet x not give you this option on line !

if I was in your shoes I would get a good impendent bike fit keep the info and shop around ! that's just my thought ! There are loads of cyclist out there with a bike that does fit them ..
I was one of them I went for a bike fit then I changed my frame/bike I have all the info I need to shop around !

Yes they do, but without putting my ass on one, I do not know what, if anything, needs changing....

Get a test ride on the Trek. If they won't allow you to do so, go elsewhere

DK where you are based, but Planet X have a shop somewhere (Rotherham perhaps?)

I would take the approach suggested by Vickster, all bikes give you a different experience when ridden, you need to try some.
A good LBS can not be under valued with regards to getting you a bike you can be happy with and someone you can turn to.
Mail order bikes are great, but you need to do your research, if you need to send the bike back under warranty who is responsible for paying the shipping costs? - What would be your next step if you had an issue which was not resolved in a satisfactory manner, or the online/mail order retailer ignored your communication.... not everyone has a great mail order experience.

Find a great LBS who will give you time, support and let you try a few bikes... buy the one which makes you smile the most
