If Prof Skea was holed up in his attic firing off academic journals he would be criticised for never getting out into the world and witnessing what was actually going on.

Instead he's an environmental scientist being criticised for his reckless disregard for the environment. It's like taking health advice from an obese Doctor - sure, they know their stuff, but they have a lot more credibility when they practice that which they preach. Would you take road safety advice from a copper with alcohol on his breath, or hurricane warning advice from Michael Fish?
