Assos make these gloves that are supposed to be the best (i.e. warmest) at $150 a pair this is definitely a bill I should need to burn to avoid any 'accountancy' problems but are they worth it. I have a half dozen pairs of gloves already and I wore most of them yesterday in -5 degrees and I imagine the cost was at least $150 so perhaps I can justify it that way. Has anyone used them? my cut off is -10 degrees.

dunno about the fugu gloves (which after mild googling don't seem quite as expensive as you suggest) but I got Assos 3 way winter glove system - lobster waterproof outers, windproof fleece middles, and thin faux-silk inners. Seem to be on Assos's site for £85 which is rather less than I paid and pretty good deal. Certainly warm and the layering os good. Not used em enough to confirm longevity

Edit - slight kybosh on my recommendation - seem to be end-of-line xxsmall only from assos shop. Someone else might still have em though

You want warm hands? Neoprene gloves is what you want.
Neoprene gloves do keep your hands warm but they sweat.

About 4 years ago I bought a pair of military overmitts for about ten pounds on ebay. I can wear any thick warm Winter gloves under them.

My hands stay warm and dry down to -10 and beyond. The best piece of Winter gear I have bought in ages.

I ride 20 km to work most days. I still have warm dry hands.

Ive had the expensive gloves and they all leak in the end.

If anybody asked me to pay $150 for a pair of gloves, I would shout "Fugu!" Well, something very similar to that ,,,

Mind you, I don't cycle in Canadian winter-like conditions!

That said, my best or anyway best value gloves are a pair of altura windproof fleece bright yellow ones I got (sale) for £15. They are actually better than same brand's waterproof ones - also bright yellow which were £30 in same sale. The Assos 3 pairs in one set is pretty good though to be fair if you can get 'em. I suspect the lobster overgloves are not that robust though.
