Assos Repairs

I have a pair of Assos bib shorts which are four years old. In very good condition considering. Only problem I have is the stitching which holds the pads in place is breaking quite regularly. My wife is happy to sew it back again but it seems ordinary cotton is not doing the job.

Does anyone have suggestions as to what sort of thread to use?

Fishing line.
Not the flouro fly fishing stuff, the 6lb dark variety.

And knot it on the OUTSIDE

Thanks, I'd wondered about fishing line but thought it might be "uncomfortable". You're speaking with experience I hope?

If you send them back to Assos, they have a great repair service, might not cost as much as you imagine, if anything:

I've sent shorts back to them, no charge for the repair. They may put a new pad in.
